LA-32 NC Bylaws Committee met on several weekly public meetings, from June 2016 to March 2017 to amend our Bylaws. Bylaws Committee agendas were posted publicly and were in compliance with Brown Act, and BONC Policy Procedure agenda Setting, at The El Sereno Library, LA-32 NC Website, LA-32 NC Facebook, and Department of Neighborhood Empowerment Empower-LA website.
After hearing stakeholders, community members and public comments at our Bylaws Committee meetings, here are the Recommendations that Bylaws Committee has for the General Board. We have 30 days to post this so that stakeholder, community members and Board Directors have an opportunity to review and if they like to recommend any amendments to the LA-32 NC Bylaws. We will have a Special General Board Meeting once the 30 days from today has passed. We will inform our stakeholder and Board Directors of this Special General Board Meeting once we have set the date and location.

Our New President – Anthony Manzano
Over the last several months, the election process and the discussion of voting has been front and center, nationally and locally. For those involved and for those who voted, the process needs your participation. Well, we all know what happened at the national level and who is leading our country as President. Here is where we let you know what is happening locally and introduce to you, the recently elected President of LA-32 Neighborhood Council, Anthony Manzano. For the last 12 years, Anthony has been involved in being an influential leader, and is using his experience to serve and guide the Neighborhood Council to achieve remarkable progress and growth.

Let’s learn a little bit more about Mr. Manzano….

Born in Los Angeles at White Memorial Hospital, Anthony was raised and still lives in the community he now represents. As a youth, he was involved with many little league sports groups which instilled the ability to be a team leader. As a young adult, he connected with other young and influential neighbors and made a positive impact by learning the value of giving back to the community. As a student of Wilson High School, Anthony used his musical talent and would be featured in a duet-solo, which would take Wilson High School Marching Band into the Sports Arena and earn a Championship in their division.

In education aspects, Anthony has studied electronics, immigration law, landscaping, audio technology, emergency preparedness operations, material science, OSHA – Safety Officer Management, and has learned a vast amount of community relations as a volunteer with over 15,000 hours of community service. He is well rounded and has what it takes to be an influential leader.

Over the years, he has worked and provided valued input to our Elected Officials including; (Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor Eric Garcetti, Council Member Jose Huizar, Congressman Javier Becerra, Assembly Member Jimmy Gomez, Senator Gloria Romero, Senator Kevin De Leon, and the list goes on). This experience will allow him to continue to grow and be a pivotal representative for the entire 90032 zip code and beyond. Some of the accomplishments that can be credited to Mr. Manzano are the reduction in vandalism, the creation of programs (Walk the Block – Neighborhood Watch), the preservation of history, community projects (National Night Out – clean ups – CERT), and beautifying our Neighborhoods (by donating and volunteering).

With Mr. Manzano as our new LA-32 NC President, he has the knowledge needed to deliver much more in the sense of progress and will interact with the residents to increase participation and hear the concerns of the community. Please join us on the first Wednesday of each month at the El Sereno Senior Citizen Center, where you will be given a opportunity to express your input and take an active step in the future development of the North-East area of Los Angeles. Next time you see Anthony around; ask him ‘what is the next BIG project’? Then listen, because the answer just might be what you have been waiting for….

Congratulations Mr. President
